In April of 2018 Seth Leventhal of Minnesota Civil Litigator sat down with Brent and interviewed him about his 45 years of practicing law. The interview can be found on Seth's Blog
Brent Primus is currently the C.E.O. of Primus Law Office, P.A. He attended college at Lawrence University where he majored in philosophy. Upon graduation from Lawrence in 1968, he served two years with the American Peace Corps as an agricultural extension agent in rural India.

Brent began his legal career investigating auto accidents while still in high school. He received his Juris Doctorate in 1973 from the University of Minnesota Law School. Since then, he has been with the Primus Law Office P.A., which was founded by his father Lee B. Primus in the early 1950’s.

Over the years Brent has represented clients in virtually all types of legal matters. In recent years his practice emphasis has been transportation and elder law. He has also lectured and presented seminars to local and national organizations on litigation and transportation topics.

Brent has had extensive experience litigating matters in State District Court, Probate Court, Federal District Courts, U.S. Bankruptcy Courts and State and Federal Administrative Agencies. He was admitted to practice in Minnesota in 1973, the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota 1974, the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals in 1993 and the U.S. Supreme Court in 1994.

Brent has received the Transportation Lawyer of the Year award presented by the Transportation and Logistics Council. He has represented shippers before the Interstate Commerce Commission and the Courts in such leading decisions as United Shipping v. General Mills, Wonderoast, Inc., and AVR, Inc., et al v. Churchill Truck Lines, Inc., et al.

Brent also has an extensive practice in the areas of Guardianships & Conservatorships, Probate & Trust Litigation and Administration, and Estate Planning. He was on the editorial board of the MAGiC Journal, the publication of the Minnesota Association for Guardianship & Conservatorship.

Brent served for 18 years on the Hennepin County Probate Court’s panel of Attorneys representing individuals who are the subject of a pending Petition to create a Guardianship or Conservatorship over them. He has also represented Conservators, both professionals and family members, and has acted as a conservator himself.

Brent currently serves as the CEO for transportlawtexts, inc. He has authored many articles and publications relating to transportation and litigation including Anatomy of a Lawsuit: How to Understand What Your Lawyer Is Talking About. He is the co-author of Incoterms® 2010 and the UCC: A Guide to International and Domestic Terms of Sale. He also was the editor of Freight Claims in Plain English, Fourth Edition, published in 2009. His most recent text is Motor Carrier Contracts Annotated, Second Edition, published in 2024.
